Age of Admission
British curriculum students must have turned the age specified below by 31 August, in the academic year they wish to be admitted.

For Year 2 and above, students must have turned the minimum age specified below by 30 September in the academic year they wish to be admitted.

Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) students must have turned the age specified below by 31 March in the academic year they wish to be admitted.

Admissions Eligibility
In accordance with HR policies, admission is exclusively for the school aged children of:
- QatarEnergy LNG direct hires and AKIS employees
- QatarEnergy LNG direct hires residing in Al Khor Community (AKC)
- QatarEnergy LNG direct hire employees residing outside AKC (Al Khor/ Al Dhakira) whose work location is Ras Laffan or Al Khor, upon endorsement.
Waiting List
If a place is unavailable, the applicant will be placed on a waiting list from the date of receipt of a completed registration form.
The above criteria apply to all applications (new admissions, re-admissions).
Admission is subject to:
- place availability
- compliance with the laws of the State of Qatar, and Ministry of Education and Higher Education regulations
- meeting the minimum requirements of the admissions assessment.
Application Process
Step 1
Contact us including details of your Residence Permit (QID) and staff number to request an Enrolment Eligibility Form. Email address for all correspondence throughout the application process: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
Step 2
Submit the completed Enrolment Eligibility Form by email.
Please ensure you complete the following details:
- employee name
- staff number
- Al Khor Community/ Al Khor/ Al Dhakira address
- child’s legal full name
- child’s date of birth.
Step 3
Once the enrolment eligibility form has been submitted, a link for online application will be provided.
Step 4
Complete your application at the link received.
- Letter of employment from the child's sponsor stating:
- the address in Al Khor Community (QatarEnergy LNG employees)
- the address in Qatar (AKIS employees)
- endorsement letter for QatarEnergy LNG eligible employees (Ras Laffan based, residing in Al Khor or, Al Dhakira).
- Colour, passport size photograph of the child in .jpg or, .png format
- Both sides of the child’s Residence Permit (QID)
- Both pages of the child’s passport that contain biodata
- Birth certificate
- For Year 2 applicants and upwards, attested copy of the most recent school report*
- Immunisation records
- Both sides of the Hamad Medical Card (HMC)
- Both sides of the sponsor’s Residence Permit (QID)
- Both sides of the other parent’s Residence Permit (QID)
- Sponsor’s passport copy
- Other parent’s passport copy.
Step 5

Step 6
A member of the admissions team will contact you for an assessment or interview.
Step 7
Visit the school at the appointed time for the assessment or interview.
Step 8
Following successful assessment, a confirmation email will be provided.
Assessment and Interview
All applicants are required to attend an interview and assessment. Admission to AKIS is subject to meeting the minimum pass requirement of the evaluation.
Foundation Stage/ Kindergarten 2:
The assessment process seeks to identify and address pronounced issues relating to:
- attention difficulties
- speech and language difficulties
- social and communication difficulties
- physical difficulties
- cognitive processing difficulties.
Students who do not exhibit any concerns will be admitted to Foundation Stage/ Kindergarten 2.
British Curriculum Primary and Secondary Years 1-13 / CBSE Junior and Senior Grades 1-12
All children seeking entry to Year 1/Grade1 and above, will undertake the following assessments:
- Naglieri Nonverbal Ability Test (NNAT), and/or a Cognitive Abilities Test (CAT4), are both computer based, standardised assessments of general ability
- interview and teacher based tasks.
The minimum pass mark for a NNAT is a Naglieri Ability Index (NAI) score of 80, equivalent to a percentile rank of 11%.
The minimum pass mark for the CAT4 test is a Standardised Assessment Score (SAS) of 82 and above, equivalent to a percentile rank of 11%.
If the student scores below 80 (NAI) in the NNAT assessment, below 82 in the CAT4 test, or concerns are raised during the interview, s/he will be referred to the school’s specialist assessor for further investigation. The specialist assessment will take place within one week of the initial evaluation.
