Counselling Services
At AKIS, student wellbeing is central to everything we do. We are proud to offer a comprehensive counselling service supporting students from FS through to Year 13, recognising that academic success and personal growth are closely linked to emotional wellbeing, resilience, and adaptability.
Our counselling provision works alongside existing school systems to create a strong, responsive network of care. The service is delivered by dedicated social and emotional school counsellors who work in close partnership with our pastoral team of Housemasters to support students across the school community. Counselling sessions take place in a confidential, non-judgemental, and supportive environment, where students can explore their thoughts and feelings through discussion, creative activities, and age-appropriate therapeutic approaches tailored to individual needs.
Parents play a vital role in supporting student wellbeing, and we have established a clear and accessible referral pathway. Parents may request counselling support by contacting their child’s Housemaster, who will initiate the referral process. All referrals are carefully monitored and reviewed to determine whether students would benefit most from internal provision or external specialist services. In addition, students can access ad hoc drop-in sessions via a Housemaster or counsellor when immediate support is required, ensuring timely access to care.
We believe effective student support is strengthened through open communication and collaboration with families. To support this partnership, our counselling team offers parent workshops throughout the academic year, providing practical strategies to promote children’s emotional and social development. Whether students are navigating everyday challenges or more complex concerns, our counselling service is committed to helping them develop the skills and resilience needed to thrive in school and beyond.
