AKIS CBSE students took part in the Qatar National Scratch Coding Competition (QNSCC) 2018 conducted by Voltaire Qatar, in partnership with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, UNESCO-Doha Office, Qatar National Research Fund, and Qatar Mobility Innovations Centre.
The QNSCC initiative helped boost interest in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) through games and enjoyable projects aiming to encourage critical thinking, creativity and innovation.
580 students from 70 schools in Qatar participated in this competition, with 16 students representing AKIS. Six of our students were shortlisted for the Qatar National Scratch Coding Competition Open-Category Finals:
Team 1: Fathima Nizar (Grade 8A) and Srujitha Akula(Grade 8A)
Team 2: Tharun Harish (Grade 8A) and Sriram Paranthaman(Grade 8D)
Team 3: Asim Jawahir (Grade 10C) and Matthew Kuncheria(Grade 10C)
Tharun Harish (Grade 8A) and Sriram Paranthaman(Grade 8D) won gold medals in the Open Category Junior High.
Asim Jawahir (Grade 10C) and Matthew Kuncheria (Grade 10C) won silver medals in the Open Category Senior.
Each student was also awarded an iPhone and certificate.
